How Volet works

Short pages with one thing to do on each line. If you can use a phone, you can do this.

Make your first site

It takes about a minute.

  1. Press “Make a new site” at the top of the page.
  2. Type a name, then one sentence about what you do, then tap a color.
  3. Press “Make my site”. You’ll land in the editor with a finished site ready to change.

Change words and photos

Click it and it changes. No settings, no forms.

  1. Click on any words on your page. A box appears around them.
  2. Type what you want. Press Enter when you’re done.
  3. Press Escape if you change your mind. The old words come back.
  4. Point at a photo and press “Change photo”. Pick one you already have, or add one from your phone or computer.

Add, move and remove sections

A section is one piece of your page, like a big photo, a price list or a contact form.

  1. Point at a section. A little bar appears above it.
  2. Press “Move up” or “Move down” to change the order.
  3. Press “Copy” to make another one just like it.
  4. Press “Remove” to take it away. If that was a mistake, press Undo at the top.
  5. Press “Add a section” between any two sections, then pick what you want from the pictures.

Undo anything

You can’t break your site. Everything can be undone.

  1. Press “Undo” at the top to go back one step. Press it again to go back more.
  2. Press “Redo” if you went back too far.
  3. Your changes are saved by themselves. The words “All changes saved” show you it worked.

Show things only to members

Keep videos, prices or news for people who joined.

  1. Point at a section and find “Who can see this?”.
  2. Pick “Members only” to hide it from everyone who hasn’t joined.
  3. Pick “Visitors who haven’t joined” for things like a “Join now” message that members don’t need.
  4. Use “A visitor” and “A member” at the top to see your site the way each of them sees it.

Get paid

Choose Square or Stripe. The money goes straight to you.

  1. Open “My sites” and find “How do you want to get paid?”.
  2. Pick Square if you already use it in a shop or at events. Pick Stripe for monthly plans and online cards.
  3. Put your prices on your site with the “Prices” or “Things to sell” sections.
  4. Volet never holds your money. Your customers pay your own account.

Publish your site

Publishing makes your changes show up for everyone.

  1. Press the blue “Publish” button at the top of the editor.
  2. Wait for “Published ✓”. That’s it. Press “View my site” to see it.
  3. Changed something later? Edit it and press Publish again. Nobody sees your changes until you do.

I’m stuck

Quick answers.

  1. I can’t find a button: point at the section you want to change. The buttons appear when you do.
  2. I typed something wrong: press Undo, or press Escape while you’re still typing.
  3. My photo didn’t work: try a JPG or PNG picture. Big phone photos are shrunk for you.
  4. My change isn’t on my live site: you need to press Publish.
